Fishing

Location: Virtual – Any Public Water in Minnesota that has a Public Boat Access

Trapshooting

Location: Del-Tone Shooting Range, 3322 12th St SE, St Cloud, MN 56304
Date/Time: June 28, 2025 · 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Schedule:
8:30 – 10:00 am: Check-in, field assignments, apparel, speakers, flag raising, national anthem
10:00 am – 2:30 pm: Competition, shootoff (if needed)
3:00 – 3:30 pm: Awards

Tournament Configuration

There will be two divisions. Division A will include grades 6-9. Division B will include grades 10-12.
There will be a max of 100 teams consisting of 200 total students. Each division will have a maximum of 50 teams. It is possible that a division would be expanded depending on the interest level of students and the number of registrations received for each division.
Minimum number of teams is TBD.
There will be community-based restrictions based on divisions, namely 5 teams per division, per school district.
Team names will be assigned based on school district.
  • Team name pattern: District #, first name initial last name 1 / first name initial last name 2, [optional: team #]
  • [optional: team #] is only used if multiple teams in the same district have the same first name initial and last names
  • Examples:
    • District 194, D.Schueck / J.Kelvie
    • District 194, J.Smith / J.Smith, team 1
    • District 194, J.Smith / J.Smith, team 2

Registration

Registration is required to participate in this tournament. Registration opens on March 27.
Entry Fee: $85
– Entry fees are used to cover range fees/clay targets, student T-shirt, student lunch, and contribution toward scholarships and awards

Eligibility Criteria

Student

Must be in grade 6-12 at time of registration.
Must be enrolled in school at time of registration.
Must have a MN DNR firearms safety/hunter education certificate OR USA Clay Target League Student Athlete Firearm Education (SAFE) certificate at time of registration.
Must have a team partner identified at time of registration.
Not required to be affiliated with a high school fishing organization or team.
Not required to be affiliated with a clay target organization or team.

Adult

At least one adult companion must accompany each team (of 2 students) in both portions of the event.
Must be 19 years of age or older.
Must provide name and contact info at time of registration.
Must have watercraft liability insurance at time of registration.
Must have completed and passed a background check prior to time of registration.

Rules and Scoring

Tournament participants and adult companions are expected to read the rules and scoring system used for the fishing and trapshooting segments of the competition.

Liability Waiver

Every student angler, adult boat operator, and adult trapshooting companion/coach must submit the YHO Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement to tournament officials prior to competing. Instructions:

Prizes / Awards

The top 3 places in Division A (grades 6-9) will receive trophies.
